The Spirit of Huntington Creative Workshop Day
Choose one class in the morning and another in the afternoon for a full day of fun and creativity.

Clay Comes Alive – In this well established and fun program, led by clay artist Gina Mars, who has over 30 years teaching experience, each participant will create a Trompe L’oeil knapsack, hand band or other bag project.  Clay and materials will be provided and participants will take the project back to their school for firing.  In addition, participants can use the potter’s wheel and learn techniques to utilize in the classroom.

Artists Come Alive – In this innovative program, teachers will learn how to combine art history with fun art techniques to inspire and engage students in an expressive and creative way. Artists Come Alive empowers students by tapping into their natural artistic abilities and channeling their emotions through their work.  Through interactive presentations and hands-on projects, we will explore ways to make art engaging and relevant in today’s society.  Led by Michael Kitakis and Diane Young, Founding Directors of The Spirit of Huntington.

Nuno-Felting – Learn about sustainable techniques in Nuno-Felting with Oksana Danzinger, renowned textile designer, artist and teacher.  Felting is a user-friendly technique that is simple to learn and we will create a beautiful, felted flower by melding fibers together with only soap and water, which creates a unique watercolor effect on the fabric.
