Spirit of Huntington Art Center Holds Long Island’s Largest Special Needs Art Show

The Spirit of Huntington Art Center had recently hosted ARTABILITY, Long Island’s Largest Special Needs Art Show. With help from partner organizations, we were able to showcase the power of creative expression. The virtual reception and art show allowed us to celebrate the diversity and creativity of students with special needs. ARTABILITY 2020 showed the impact art has on the special needs community.

The Spirit of Huntington Art Center is proud to have worked together in partnership with many non-profit organizations. A special thanks to our artwork collaborators: Cerebral Palsy of Nassau County, FREE, Life’s WORC, South Huntington School District, Above and Beyond Community Classes, Adler Center for Special Needs, Pal-o-Mine Equestrian, and Halo Network.

ARTABILITY is made possible by a grant from Suffolk County Department of Economic Development and Planning as well as generous contributions from The Lindy Loo Foundation, Mark the Architect, Solarus Technologies, FiveStar Advertising, Whitestone Associates, FREE, Rise Life Services, Above and Beyond Community Classes, Irene Lang, French Hill Farm, Andrew DeClara, Eileen Sebold, as well as other contributors, all who generously support both the artists and our 501(c)(3) charity.

With ARTABILITY 2020 we were able to raise over $20,000! With these proceeds we will be able to expand our ArtWorks program. ArtWorks is a program that provides technical training to prepare students for a career in digital art with structured classes that teach the tools needed to be successful in a job after high school and/or post-secondary education. ArtWorks also provides the practice of soft skills needed to secure and maintain employment in today’s world of websites, social medial and the digital graphic arts. New computers, software, and workstations will allow us to accommodate many more students and expand our reach to many more!

Thank you all for your continued support!
