ArtAbility’22

The Spirit of Huntington Art Center presented ArtAbility’22, an exhibition celebrating inclusion and diversity in the arts, on September 23 and 24. ArtAbility featured artwork from over 250 neurodiverse individuals from 12 partner organizations and is the largest collaboration of its kind on Long Island. These partner organizations include: ACLD, AHRC Suffolk, Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau, FREE- Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Life’s WORC, RISE Life Services, South Huntington School District, Winters Center for Autism, SYJCC-Butler Center, and the Mid-Island YJCC-Adler Center for Special Needs.

Friday evening’s opening reception saw about 250 people come through the doors to admire the amazing artwork. This exhibit was made possible by the support of Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly, TD Charitable Foundation, RISE Life Services, FREE- Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Life’s WORC, and Winters Center for Autism. Artists, staff, local legislators, executives from our partner organizations and families and friends of The Spirit of Huntington all joined together to celebrate the talents of these neurodiverse artists. Saturday afternoon’s show saw many of our families visit the Center and meet our teachers, board members and other students.  It was a wonderful celebration and we look forward to continuing the tour with Agora Gallery, Nassau County Museum of Art and Hamptons Fine Art Show in 2023.
