Henri Rousseau’s paintings are characterized by lush, jungle landscapes populated with exotic plants and animals, often rendered with simplicity but include a sense of mystery and captivation for viewers. His bold use of color and flattened perspective, combined with incredible attention to detail in flowers and wildlife, creates a fascinating visual experience that captivates the imagination. Our students this week will create wildlife on paper with markers and water, being inspired by Rousseau’s painting of a flamingo.

Sunflower with Bee Sculpture 

Let’s brighten any room with this beautiful sunflower and bee sculpture! Our students will learn to transform their ceramic slabs into sunflowers by adding texture and creating multiple repetitive petals, while individually scoring and slipping the pieces together. Finally, for a creative touch, we will add a small bee!
