Art:
Van Gogh (Tempera Paint)

Van Gogh’s painting style is marked by its bold, expressive use of color and dynamic brushstrokes. He used thick, impassioned brushwork to create textured surfaces. His approach to color was with vibrant, contrasting hues used to evoke mood and convey personal emotion rather than representational accuracy. Van Gogh’s subjects ranged from self-portraits and still lifes to landscapes and scenes of everyday life. This week, our students will be recreating Van Gogh’s famous poppy field using tempera paints.

Clay:
Pumpkin Candle Holders

The peak of pumpkin season is near! Did you know that pumpkin season typically starts in mid-September and lasts through October and November? Here at Spirit, we’re going to create beautiful pumpkin candle holders to bring the colors of the season indoors! This week in Art Ability Ceramic class, our students will learn various hand-building techniques such as pinching, scoring, and slipping. Lastly, to encourage creativity, they will use leaves to create stamped impressions on their pumpkins.

Music:
Earth, Wind, and Fire

Step into the groove of the universe and let Earth, Wind & Fire take you on a musical journey like no other! In this high-energy, feel-good lesson, you’ll be learning the funky basslines, soulful harmonies, and dazzling rhythms that made this legendary band a dance-floor sensation. Come have fun as we play “Elemental Bingo!” Earth, wind, and fire may be the stars this week but don’t forget about water. Can you match the song title to its earthly element? The fun doesn’t stop there though! Drum circles are next on our list, so get ready to jam with the ultimate masters of the groove!
